Empire? More like a floating rock in the ocean trying to control 13 slave colonies.

Wikipedia wrote:The term empire derives from the Latin imperium (power, authority). Politically, an empire is a geographically extensive group of states and peoples (ethnic groups) united and ruled either by a monarch (emperor, empress) or an oligarchy. Geopolitically, the term empire has denoted very different, territorially-extreme states — at the strong end, the extensive Spanish Empire (16th c.) and the British Empire (19th c.), at the weak end, the Holy Roman Empire (8th c.–19th c.), in its Medieval and early-modern forms.

When I look up the definition of "empire" in a Webster's Dictionary it doesn't say anything about Britain. Tongue

Britain is an example of an empire...

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/empire wrote:

–noun

a group of nations or peoples ruled over by an emperor, empress, or other powerful sovereign or government: usually a territory of greater extent than a kingdom, as the former British Empire, french Empire, Russian Empire, Byzantine Empire, or Roman Empire.

LH Justin wrote:Empire? More like a floating rock in the ocean trying to control 13 slave colonies.

That proves how great we are, we were a floating rock in a see which controlled 13 slave colonies for 450 years Tongue
